Updated 12/23/2009

Why? Because I could.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

I’m definently liking your journal. If only my character knew how to write in common. Unfortuently he can only write in elven.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Updated 12/28/09 out of boredom once again.

All the same, Dan, the journal is a translation from Deep Speech Rellanic with the exception of the name on the cover. Why? No RSA encryption in the D&D universe and Adiah can’t keep track of a cryptogram cypher to save his life.

As for the last block of text, blame this.

Wheeeeeee

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

oh i see so adiah has had difficulty contacting the others recently for the past few weeks.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

I blame the postal system.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Well in this 3 week hiatus Garruk learned how to write in common :D

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Huzzah! :D

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Hey, you guys will find out what happened to Mook and Brindon when we start playing again.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Yeah. I know well enough that there’s nothing I can do to find those two. I’m just bored.

Also: Updated 12/6/2010

Time for my Familiar to get a little spotlight time.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Dude. I’m definitely going to start keeping one for Jett. (the new SWORDMAGE) This looks fun.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

We have a Swordmage now <_>? I think I missed something here…

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Correct me if I’m wrong (which I never am because I’m the DM) but didn’t you meet a dwarven archeologist from House Kundarak? And didn’t he bring up this very city? The answer to both questions is yes.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

I’m pretty sure I was the only one that remembered the Dwarf Archeologist from the Electric Rail trip. The specifics of what he said and his name though… not so much. But I suppose that makes a bit more sense.

He wasn’t put up on the NPC page so he kinda’ disappeared from knowledge, I guess.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

I didn’t put him up because he’s not important, yet…

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

True, we only ran into him once. But a lack of information led to me recall him as “That archeologist Dwarf on the Train.” Now my journal is all incorrect and stuff. Oh well, I can blame it on Adiah’s recent sleep deprivation.

I’d imagine the fact that you brought him up means he’s the head of this whole operation. Also, I assume that, like with any other potentially helpful NPC, he’ll only show up once we’ve cleared a path that equates to a five lane motorway with a two service lane addition to comment on our inefficiency.

Either way, looks like we’re up for a good old fashioned zombie shoot >=)

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Ok here’s the deal with Khaz Mordread and the Parallel Planes. Remember the paper I gave you to start your first adventure way back? This is me whetting you guys appetite for the Paragon tier. That’s I’ve planned that far ahead. Oh and spoiler, there will be THREE choices. I updated the pages of two houses recently and they have something to do with it….

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Oooooh… I see. This should be an interesting next questline.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Yeah, my plan is for the quest you guys choose to take up about half of the paragon tier, maybe more.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Thats awesome, i already know what pargon path and epic destiny im going to pick when we reach those levels. I hope we fight a god at some point in the epic teir. :D

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

You might…or a demon prince…or primordial…who could know anymore?

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

lets fight Orcus and an Ancient Red Dragon at the same time that a fire elemental titan decides to fight us :D

Here’s to hoping the young Genasi isn’t dead yet.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

mmm genasi sounds delicious

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

‘i began talking about the dissertations that explained how this bag worked, but cutter just set the bag on top of my book and said “i only needed the picture.”’ Such a great quote :D

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

now that’s some irony

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

I’m not too sure why or how one would eat a Genasi. You could probably drink a Watersoul type one, any other type would either result in the consumer’s death, broken teeth, or the Genasi is intangible(I made an Earthsoul Genasi Barbarian named “Schnitzel” out of boredom so I know the varieties).

Also yes, Adiah has an exceedingly low charisma score, can’t you tell :D?

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

did this barbarian say anything but ‘rada’

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Yes, he’s Schnitzel from Chowder. What else are you going to call a rock monster that uses his fists to fix everything?

I might mix some Berserker from 8-bit Theater in if I actually get to play him. Put on a monocle and he speaks Common as eloquently as a Wizard with a 24 for INT.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

He should appear as an npc sometime soon

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

my question is why a genasi over a goliath? goliath=rock monster man genasi=half-elemental schnitzel=rock monster man therefore: schnitzel is a goliath because schnitzel=goliath but schnitzel does not equal genasi. plus goliaths make better barbarians.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

All very true. But a Goliath doesn’t have the ability to smash the ground and knock everything surrounding them prone as a minor action.

Also after listening to The Nerdy Show, I’m affixed to the idea of Goliaths having Russian accents.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

I can see that, Goliaths have the accents I mean…

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

i can picture genasi speaking italian or with italian accents

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Mah profile exploded!

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Garruk’s justification for drinking the poison: “I have never trusted any Drow in my life, especially because of the incident that befell me as a child (see character biography for information regarding this event). I had a feeling the entire time we were in his house that he was up to something. So when I left to go “use” the lavatory I snuck around his house trying to find evidence of anything he was trying to do to us. When i found that vial of poison I was afraid he would use it to poison the party, so I hid it in one of my flasks as a way of taking it from him. When I returned to him and he asked for it back, rather than let him use this awful poisonous venom on any of my friends, I decided to take a hit for the team. I drank the entire vial so that only I would be the one on the receiving end of the poison. I agree with Adiah’s assertion that the mansion housed a large arcane field that caused most who entered to commit stupid mistakes. I fear Zane was infected within this field as I was. After a night of pure agony and spending hours in the bathroom at my house, the worst end of the poison is now over. I know realize I should have poured the poison on the ground, but the past is the past and I need to learn from this mistake.”

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Excellent. I will work that into the next adventure log. Of course, some antivenin was purchased for you after that whole ordeal to keep the acidic properties of the poison from liquefying your innards (Yes, DM, I subtracted the 20 gold for a Heroic Tier “Antivenom”). Didn’t seem to do jack shit with its other properties though.

Also Costontine, yes, I purposefully chose the dumbest possible explanation as to why Cutter disappeared because it wasn’t explained.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

That is not the dumbest explanation possible, cutter fading away in an array of rainbows is.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

He didn’t disappear, he was in the background. I told you.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Cutter is one of the wounder twins and he used his power to “Wounder twin powers activate. Form of a Chair.” He was every chair we sat on in between the last time we played and this week.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Very well, I will make changes as necessary. But if he was in the background, I need an explanation as to why he couldn’t throw a healing power our way in any one of the several times one or more of us were incapacitated because of being beaten.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

that’s easy. because he hates you guys.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

I see… So he hates the four people that consider him to be a friend in a world where the majority of the people in said world feel that his kind should be forced back underground?

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

you lack hatred, that is why you are weak.

on another note, are you guys saying my draining of blood was due to the arcana of the room?

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Last I checked I’m the guy that clears rooms of minions with one turn. With fire.

And no, I’m willing to buy the concept of the idea that you’re a collector of the strange and bizarre. Adiah can be quoted as saying that Sorcerers are “weird.” Also, there was no “actual” arcane field in the house (unless the DM states so). That was Adiah’s vain attempt to rationalize the events and keep his sanity.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

That’s Adiah’s attempts at rationalizing what Garruk and Zane were doing within the Drow’s mansion. And holy crap Carl on OP?

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Yes and yes.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Cutter hates only those who abuse his kind. He considers his four comrades in arms his friends. As to why he could do nothing to help, I do not know. (I had to work that day) If I had actually put the pdfs of my character in the e-mail to Kyle, it would have been fine, but alas, it seems I was afflicted by the arcane field long before anyone else.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Edited 2/10/10

I came up with something better. I’m going off of the assumption that Cutter can make explosives with this, but he did make the Glitterbag with only a picture of the thing.

As for the fight against Melbazan, he used a standard Team Fortress 2 tactic: “Take out the medic first.”

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Where’s your new update? I’m waiting for it damn it!

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Updated 2/27/2010

Keep in mind that I’m writing the Adventure Log for Dan’s campaign as well.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

This new one was quite believable, until you slipped up later on there. See, you lost me when you said Zane read a book. I find that difficult to stomach. I’d believe in Zane eating a books heart for its power before he’d actually read one.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

I’ll vouch for Kyle on this one, Zane wouldn’t read a book, he’d try to stuff the book into his ear to absorb the information before reading it.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

For something like gaining power? I wouldn’t doubt that Zane would pick up a tome or two. Personally, I think what he’s planning with the Anklets is a good idea. As such, I came up with that as an explanation as to why our group would suddenly decide to buy Cutter a Transfer Enchantment Ritual to be used to those specific ends.

Now, it would make more sense for Adiah to do that kind of digging through old tomes about forgotten names of people that made mythical weapons a long time ago, but that would require saying that I came up with the idea in the first place. Which would make me a bit on an asshole in that regard.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

It would be more believable if he accidentally read the book. Like if he tripped and feel into an open book and was all ‘wtf, words?!’

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Well, Adiah was surprised by it as well. But I don’t doubt the capabilities of our Sorcerer. Who knows? He has some ulterior motive for collecting the blood of our enemies, maybe the whole insanity thing is a farce.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

On another subject, is there any way I can get a rough time estimate as to how long we were actually on the Lightning Rail?

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Not enough for an extended rest. Only like 1 hour at most.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Well shit… I have 10HP and 4 healing surges. We’re going into a city district that’s on fire, crawling with sword wielding Nature enthusiasts and religious fanatics, while we are being guarded by nameless NPCs who will probably be killed in the first two minutes of leaving the train.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Also to mention, Zane is carrying some very fragile cargo in his backpack. I also have every reason to suspect that Garruk, the one person who knows the streets of the district to some extent, to sneak off and fight alongside his people, leaving us to fight off everything.

God… damn… it…

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Isn’t dnd fun?!

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

It certainly is. Personally, I would love to see where this story takes us. I suppose I’m going to have to spend three surges and hope for the best.

Hmm… I guess Cutter could still use the Raise Dead Ritual if he used my book.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Do I really come off as a kill crazed lunatic?

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

No, just a DM :3

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Updated 3/5/10

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Hograth was the human with the Cityspeakers not the goliath who attacked you. The goliath was Lothar!

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

...FUCK!

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Aaaaand fixed.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Okay, so as a question for another revision. Who was Lothar, Who was Hograth, Who was Adolen’s advisor, and Who did we beat into submission on our way out of the Cityspeaker’s tower?

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Lothar is a Rockwalker. He’s the one that beat you unconscious. Adolon and Hograth were Cityspeakers. They were the ones in charge of the group that took you. Hograth was the one you beat up on the way out.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Updated 3/13/2010

Quite a predicament we are in right now.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

It is, if only you had a friend outside of the Brokenspire. Someone with power. Someone that could turn into a beast and break you out.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Adiah doesn’t remember any Druids. Quite a coincidence, seeing that I don’t either =3

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Your brain is like a colander with a hole in it Dave.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

That is a completely useless colander :O!

Yes yes, I’m a smartass. But very few times have I actually asked for the class of various NPCs. Heck, I only remember Kava being a fighter because it was my copy of the Character Builder we used to make her.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Updated 3/26/2010

I may need to revise this update, depending on whether or not we live through the next skill check.

Then again, I could just jump out one of the windows, cast Feather Fall on myself and make with the resurrections if we botch this.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Leaving the train WILL kill you. No matter what you do. It’s like the first Assassin’s Creed. Touching the water=death.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Also, it’s so cute that you think Sorena can’t have anymore surprises for you. I find that just adorable…

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

We have already fought hordes of her minions, Warforged Prime, Melbazan d’Phairlan, and now these new Shadowforged. There aren’t too many other things that would surprise Adiah at this point.

Also, if anyone in this team should be able to swim it would be the squishy characters. How fast do we have to be going that a feather fall spell would fizzle? Or would it just be that I’d jump out and paint a very nearby tree a disgusting color?

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

It’s pretty much like this, you’re going at a speed of 2-3 hundred miles per hour. Leaving that train will make a very ugly mess. On top of that, if you manage to survive getting out, there’s the matter of the fall, which is enough damage to be fatal to any of you. Then after that, you have to deal with a dangerous unfamiliar swamp IN THE POURING RAIN. If anything, hypothermia will wipe you guys out.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Alrighty then… I guess we’re going to try to get the train under control…

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Updated 4/4/2010

Alright, this whole thing where we keep getting doomed by people we’ve pissed off? We need to make that not happen.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

But you guys are just so lovable!!!!

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Riiiight…

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

You’re all gonna DIE!

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Hrm… pretty sure that’s my line there… :3 Particularly with the hints at a chimera in the not too distant future.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

the chimera is only a possibility right now, what i really want is a cerebus, but no one has made those in d&d yet. No clue why.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Ah.

Huzzah. One hundred comments on the Adventure log :3

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Updated 4/16/2010 This is going to end up a long one, I can tell right now.

Adiah hits the fourth wall and deals 2d6+7 damage.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

you’re breaking of the fourth wall will cost you, YOUR LIFE! But seriously, way to break literary rules Stephanie Meyer!

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

I have a retcon to make. I fucked up with all the drow stuff. The drow house is house Paelion, not Phiarlan. Phiarlan is Eladrin. Let’s get that right from now on. And also, sorry for fucking that up.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Well… both houses are run and composed of a large group of assholes, so I could see where the mixup came from.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Yup, it’s just that one group of assholes is darker than the other.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Updated 5/21/2010

Hoooollaaaaay shit.. that was a long one.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Wow, I finally got through it all. O.O I’m severely impressed.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Updated 6/1/2010

Alright, we have a cleric for the group, and I have the ability to set fire on fire. This is going to be a fun tier.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

I was kind of hoping to roleplay all that, but I guess your explanation is ok Dave…

Now onward to Khaz Mordread!

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Really? Huh… I thought you wouldn’t want to bother with it, hence the explanation <_>

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Well yeah. I don’t want characters to just sort of appear.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Hmm… Then maybe something could be worked out. Not that difficult to remove / change word text files >_>

It was done this way going off of a 3.5 to 4th ed character transfer. The rifts were just convenient filler for that plot hole.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Wait, so you WANT to Roleplay this out? I’m smiling like, massively, right now. =D Alrighty, that’s fine by me. It was David’s idea for the typing it out. Not to blame him, but I was looking forward to RPing it, and I am even more now. =D

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

I do like the idea of you not arriving alone though. You can’t just join a party without a fight now can you? And I gives me a perfect chance to bust out some monsters with pc powers….

MY FAVORITE PC POWERS!

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

XD That’s fine, really. She’ll really freak if it is actually a lich, though…XD

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

No, no lich. It’s just the party of evil adventurers who just decided to violently part ways with you.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Yes, I suppose a test of our all new powers should be in order.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Perfect. =) And, that would help me test out Rimosa for the first time in 4th edition.

Exerpts from Adiah's Logbook

Updated 6/7/2010

There’s the continuity fix for Dan’s campaign all set to have happened so the universe won’t sunder itself and a silly little story for why I’m going with this paragon path.

I would also like to go on record and say that a sucker punch like using either Sleep or Face of Death successfully would be the only way I would win a 1 vs. 1 fight against Zane. Looking at preferences for combat and the numbers alone, I can say that Zane would kick Adiah’s ass any day of the year. Also because I suspect my dice are trying to kill me.
